I Loved Summers At Grandma & Grandpa's In Rondeau As A K |
|
Hello all!
Pretty weird title but this is how I came across these forums. As a kid I spent lots of time at my Grandparents place in Rondeau. They lived in the big corner house almost directly across from the marina. I fished with my Grandpa and Uncle a lot and found myself fishing on my own as often as possible whenever I was there. I was amazed as a kid by all of the rods, tackle and musky mounted in the garage.
On and off as I grew up I went through phases where I would fish and then not fish, sometimes for long periods of time (years). I would say ten years ago I got the bug and haven't looked back. Started as simple as some bass fishing and slowly got into float fishing. I got hooked pretty good on the float fishing, fished a lot of different small tribs in Ontario, loved the Niagara and had some of my best days in the USA (Bert's Dam and The Catt). Phased myself out of the float fishing after a crappy day fishing for bass and pike and the buddy I was fishing with said "Hey! Let's go musky fishin?!". My first trip out was a blast, I raised a monster musky that followed me into the side of the boat where I panicked so we turned back around to drift back through the spot and I hooked into a large smallmouth on the pikie minnow I was throwing. The next year I got a small musky that I was ecstatic about and vowed it was for my Grandpa. Here I am years later, still love bass fishing and pike fishing but my true love is musky.
Anyways, there was some background on me and a little insight as to why I was looking for these forums : Looking for musky info on Rondeau Bay ie. charts, topo map, launches, general info etc. I've already read quite a bit on here and if anyone wants to private message me with info it would be greatly appreciated. Launch info from Rondeau would be helpful too as it's my understanding that the marina is no longer there.
Here's a pic of me with a small Kawartha's musky a few weeks ago:

Welcome aboard.

Thanks guys!
I'm still learning where everything is here but hopefully I'll be able to contribute to these forums for a long time to come.
